Parent Rep

Role of the Vikings Team Parent Representative

Every Vikings house team is required to select a Team Parent Representative (Parent Rep). The Coach should not appoint the Parent Rep but should instead be elected by the parents of that team. The Casselman Minor Hockey Association Executive Committee can be consulted when selecting a Parent Rep.

A Team Parent Rep plays an essential role in the association by carrying out the following minimum duties:

  • Shall be the liaison between the parents of the team and the team officials;
  • Bring the concerns of the parents directly to the team officials or to the CMHA Director, Risk & Safety (when warranted);
  • Discusses any issues or concerns affecting the team with the CMHA Director, Risk & Safety
  • Shall assist in resolving team or parent disputes and concerns;
  • Shall be consulted by team officials when making decisions that affect the whole team (dress code, etc…);

Additionally, a critical tool available to parents in providing input to the CMHA is through the Coaches Evaluation process distributed each year. The results of this evaluation are entirely held in confidence, are not provided to coaches, and are used as part of the coach selection process. A fair and accurate appraisal must be given of all coaches and other evaluated team officials.
